Innovators at Work - Mitra Moin, Employee Experience Manager at Oyster®
Meet Mitra, Employee Experience Manager at Oyster. Mitra shared with us how Juno is helping the Oyster team prioritise wellbeing in the workplace.
Team leaders like Mitra are an essential part of the workplace. Our #JunoChampions series recognises and celebrates their efforts in bringing more balance at work and flexible lifestyle benefits.
Here's what Mitra shared with the community:
Why do you love your role at Oyster?
One of my favourite things about working at Oyster is that it's very human-centric, both in my role specifically and at an organisational level because of our mission to remove barriers to employment and support the social impact of that.
I work on the workplace team as an Employee Experience Manager. So, I’m very much focused on humans, assisting, and supporting our employees. It's kind of humbling to be the voice that represents a collective of people - we exist almost like a funnel for how people are feeling and can use that to both communicate those things and make changes.
I also love that part of my role is actively encouraging people to prioritise their wellbeing, to grow, and learn together whilst creating an environment that has a culture of positivity.
What is it about Juno that aligns with your values?
What I like about Juno is that it's about prioritising wellbeing and health in a flexible and non-prescriptive way - because it's so flexible, you can support yourself in a way that aligns with whatever wellbeing means to you, especially with the Juno card.
As I said, I think what I like about my role is how it's about creating a positive environment where people are encouraged to be their best, healthiest, happiest themselves - Juno really aligns with that.
More specifically, I like that Juno also allows people to focus on personal development, for example through learning and language courses or through charities - there’s so much on the platform that supports this category and I really like that.
The Juno newsletters are very reflective of all of this - they’re really enlightening and just generally a very positive thing to receive in my inbox!
Do you have any personal experiences that you could share that led you to where you are now?
I currently have a lot of Juno Points actually that I need to spend and I'm deciding what I want to spend them on - I think it'll likely be on like a combination of travel, which I'm really excited to do, and trying out meal delivery kits.
So far up until this point, I have used my Juno Points to get myself an Apple Watch, which admittedly I don't use a ton, but for example, on Saturday I used to walk my second annual marathon - it actively supports my friend and I to do our self-organized marathon every year!
How do you envision keeping such a big and diverse team motivated and aligned with the company and its values?
I think creating an environment of feedback where people feel heard and acknowledged - we want diversity at our company and it's celebrated and encouraged. Alongside this, reminding people of what we have in common - the values, the mission, and the vision - drives us to do the work that we do and connects us all to it.
We prioritise highlighting and celebrating the humans that work at Oyster and that are among us: we are all examples of our mission in action. We like to walk the walk, not just talk the talk because we believe work should just be a source of joy for everyone and we’re a representation of what we're trying to encourage.
How do you believe Juno can assist you with that while you keep on growing?
Juno continues to provide flexibility for people to seek enjoyment - work should enable you to find joy both in and outside of work and using Juno people can spend their Points to make them happier and encourage them to grow in a positive way.
Thanks to Mitra for sharing and for taking care of the Oyster team with Juno!
